congress SUCKS time to rant. this whole thing about women in Navy SEALs just kills me. according to the Ground Combat Exclusion law, women cannot participate in the Navy SEALs because we are....women. so, who says that women cant perform as well as men?!?!? for those who dont know, i have been thinking of trying to get into Navy SEALs for a while now, but my hopes have been crushed. last night i went to navyseals.com and found that women cant participate. what makes women any more important than men? why must congress deem us as happy little homemakers???? i refuse to be a homemaker with twenty kids running around, and i refuse to drive a minivan. my thoughts: women should be able to enter into SEAL training, and if they pass then we could have been in SEALs all along and if they dont, then so be it. we should at least be given the chance to prove ourselves. not every woman is soft hearted and wimpy. it takes determination, self disipline, strength, and will power to become a SEAL and who says that women dont possess those characteristics? i know women that ooze all of that. its so easy for guys to say "get over it, so you cant be a SEAL Katie, just get over it". well, you know what? its so easy for YOU to say, because you actually could have that opportunity. where as a woman, i am deprived of that opportunity. that opportunity that i want to experience. but no, congress labels me as weak and they have deemed me to be, forever more, a woman that grows old, raises kids and feeds people. i refuse to be that woman. i will live...i will prove myself to the world.
